Update an App from your iPhone

You may occasionally notice a red number in the corner of the App Store button on your home screen. This number is telling you that some ofyour installed apps have available updates. I tend to ignore this number and it drives my husband crazy. He thinks my apps should be continually updated and he’s probably [...]

Undo the iPhone freeze

Sometimes my iPhone gets a little bogged down. I think I ask too much of it. I’ll have an app open and decide okay, now I want to listen to music, no, I think I want to check email, no, let’s browse the internet. iPhone ADD. Sometimes my poor little phone just can’t take it [...]

Flixster/Movies

Flixster is a “sweet” app that keeps you on top of the new movies coming to theaters – you know, the ones you’ll never have time to see, but wish you did. If you do find time for a night out with the girls or a movie you and your husband can both agree on, [...]

Lose It

I think this might be an almost perfect iPhone app. Lose It helps you keep track of your caloric intake and the calories you’re burning with exercise. It helps you set goals and then track your progress towards your new weight. I was absolutely amazed at the amount of food it had in it’s database [...]

Yahtzee

Yahtzee has come to the iPhone – hooray! This is another great game to play when you’ve got some time to kill. I like to play in the car when I’m sitting somewhere waiting for my kiddos. You can play in Adventure or regular game mode. Adventure has you playing against characters and you’re on [...]

Move Apps around on your iPhone

I like to sort the apps on my iPhone and group them into similar categories. For example I like to have the apps that I use most often on my first screen. I like to have the apps that my kids use grouped together on another screen. If you’re finicky like me then you might [...]

Ambiance

Ambiance is another white noise app for your iPhone. The screen is simpler than aSleep and takes you directly to your sounds. They’ve got a nice variety of noises including light saber and snoring. No joke. To use Ambiance you roll the sound wheel until the sound you like is highlighted and then touch the [...]

Delete an App from your iPhone

If you find yourself with an app that you no longer want it’s easy to delete it from your phone. Touch your finger on the unwanted app icon and hold it there. Before long all the icons on your screen will start wiggling. You’ll also notice that they all have an “x” in their upper [...]

aSleep

aSleep lets you use your iPhone as a source of white noise if you’re having trouble falling asleep, or maybe you’re just in the mood for white noise. When you open the app you’ll see a screen with several buttons and some cute sheep. Touch “Timer” to set how long you want the noise to [...]

iOS 5.01 Released: Includes Fix For iOS 5.0 Battery Life Issue

iOS 5 Gets Its First Update Thanks to my husband Zack for getting this post out about the new iOS 5.1 release. I’ve yet to install the update…but I’ll be following his instructions below. Shortly after the iPhone 4S hit the market a bug was discovered that severely impacted battery life on those new devices. [...]

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
