The Weather Channel

A reader tipped me off to The Weather Channel app. She said that she likes it better then the built in iPhone weather app and after using it I’ve decided that I agree with her. The Weather Channel app uses your iPhone’s current location and pulls up the weather for that area. You can [...]

Chicktionary Update

My mom was telling me tonight that she discovered a way to turn off the sound for Chicktionary. Yee haw I thought, time to say goodbye to the Hee Haw music that plays LOUDLY when you open the app. So tonight I opened up Chicktionary and noticed things have changed since it updated for me [...]

Flip Frog & Flip Farm

I like the simplicity behind these apps. They are memory-style games using frogs (Flip Frog) and farm animals (Flip Farm). The great thing about the apps is that they come with two levels – preschooler (2-5+) and toddler (1-2 years). In Flip Frog the toddler level shows a screen of colorful frogs. Your child taps [...]

Kitchen Calculator

My mom will back me up on this – I’ve always struggled with cooking measurement conversions. Remembering how many cups in a quart or pints in a gallon is a challenge for me. Math issues again, I know. One of the many reasons I love my iPhone is that it helps me work around those [...]

Tower Smash

Ok, talk about a little boy’s dream iPhone app. The first thing you do in Tower Smash is build a tower out of blocks. This is easy to do. Tap the screen where you want a block to appear and there it is. You can stack the blocks as high and wide as you want. [...]

Betty Crocker Mobile Cookbook

* My apologies to anyone trying to read this review earlier in the week. I’m not sure what happened to the original post but most of it disappeared. Here goes another attempt.* Betty Crocker + my iPhone = pure awesomeness. I love this app!!! If you are responsible for feeding anyone you need to check [...]

Etch A Sketch Lite

Etch A Sketch Lite turns your iPhone screen into an Etch A Sketch. I got this one for my kids and they really haven’t used it much. You can doodle on the screen with your finger or you can “rotate” the knobs at the bottom of the screen like you would with a normal Etch [...]

A lovely gift, but why wasn’t it an iPhone??

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/01/obama-gives-queen-an-ipod/   Sorry, the link isn’t working and I’ve got to wait for the husband to get home and work his magical coding skills to fix it. For now just copy and paste the URL in your address bar.

Fandango

If you’ve read my review of Flixter then you’ve already read almost everything I’m going to say about the Fandango app. I opened it up and could have sworn I was looking at the same app. It operates along the same lines giving you a list of movies that are showing in theaters near you. [...]

Shape Builder

If you’ve got a preschooler then Shape Builder a great app for your iPhone. It’s a simple premise but my kids love playing it over and over. I asked my four year old if he liked this app and he said he loved it. Even my 9 year old has been caught using it. On [...]

iOS 5.01 Released: Includes Fix For iOS 5.0 Battery Life Issue

iOS 5 Gets Its First Update Thanks to my husband Zack for getting this post out about the new iOS 5.1 release. I’ve yet to install the update…but I’ll be following his instructions below. Shortly after the iPhone 4S hit the market a bug was discovered that severely impacted battery life on those new devices. [...]

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
