Treat Street

Here’s an adorable Halloween app that will most likely be a hit with your youngsters all year long. Treat Street gives your kids a chance to go  trick-or-treating on the iPhone. The app begins in a costume shop with a character on the screen. Create the perfect costume by tapping the character’s top, middle or [...]

Skeleton Key

Skeleton Key is a unique puzzle game. My son calls it “Spooky Key”, I think it’s the music or something, he didn’t elaborate.  Your goal is to move a set of keys through different puzzles, trying to reach treasure chests. You’ve only got a certain number of moves that  you can make. The keys move [...]

Little Red Riding Hood StoryChime

Story Chime storybook apps that have the great chime sound I remember from books on tape when I was a kid. Those magical chimes that meant it was time to turn the page.   Little Red Riding Hood is one of the books in their collection. We enjoyed the illustrations and the narration. They’ve done a [...]

Early Reader

Early Reader is another great app for, well, early readers. This one combines phonics, sight words, sounding out words and reading sentences. It’s pretty thorough. The phonics section displays the letters of the alphabet. Tap on the screen and hear the sound the letter makes. Swipe your finger to move through the alphabet. Sight words [...]

Travel Games Ultimate Edition

The Travel Games Ultimate Edition app combines five great travel games into one app. They’ve been translated well to the iPhone and the graphics are terrific. I wasn’t too fond of the music, mine seemed to keep getting hung up, but you can easily turn it off. At times the app felt a little slow [...]

My Virtual Tutor: Reading – Nintendo DS

I was given the Nintendo DS game – My Virtual Tutor: Reading – to try out and review. Since I’m pretty sure I’m not the game’s target audience I passed this one on to my five year old son. He’s been giving it a thorough trial the past few days and today I asked him [...]

23,000 Great Quotes brings a dose of greatness to your iPhone. If you’re looking for a quote to motivate or inspire you then this gives you plenty to choose from. A disclaimer, I didn’t count all the quotes to make sure there really are 23,000. I’m taking their word for it. The app displays one [...]

Total Baby

Total Baby is designed to help you keep track of everything that comes along with a new baby. Eating, sleeping, endless diapers and hopefully lots of growing too. When you first begin this app it walks you through setting up your baby’s information. Once you’ve finished that you’ll see a summary-like screen. At the top [...]

Itsy Bitsy Spider – by Duck Duck Moose

I cannot say enough good things about the apps that Duck Duck Moose puts out. I’ve got Wheels on the Bus and Old MacDonald on my phone and they are wonderful. Now they’ve come out with a new one, Itsy Bitsy Spider. The concept is the same: take a well known song and turn it [...]

iOS 5.01 Released: Includes Fix For iOS 5.0 Battery Life Issue

iOS 5 Gets Its First Update Thanks to my husband Zack for getting this post out about the new iOS 5.1 release. I’ve yet to install the update…but I’ll be following his instructions below. Shortly after the iPhone 4S hit the market a bug was discovered that severely impacted battery life on those new devices. [...]

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
