There’s a cute little train coming ’round the mountain loaded with stories and activities for your kids. Story Train is ready to move down the tracks and presents stories with a moral along the way.

The first two stories are complete but the remaining four give a good introduction, the full stories are available as in-app purchases.  Jumbo and His Friends teach us not to judge someone simply by their looks when choosing your friends. Jumbo the elephant isn’t as fast as the dear or small enough to visit rabbit in his burrow but he wins friends in a big way when he puts hurt feelings aside and comes to their rescue. Tinky the Cracked Barrel, reminds us to appreciate all the different people in our life. Tinky is probably my favorite of the two stories.  He learns that the very flaws he saw in himself are what made him special.  That’s a life lesson we all need, no matter our age.

The activities included with the free download are writing practice and coloring pages.  Sometimes with writing apps it can be difficult to stay on the lines.  I tried the practice with a stylus and with my finger and was impressed with the ease of use. When coloring its a little more challenging.  If you want to do a more original artwork you can design your own page and color it.  All the pretty pages can either be saved, shared or printed if you have a WiFi printer, with the tap of a button.

During game play, I would make sure to block in app purchases on your device if you only intend to use the free version. There is a large button to purchase the upgrade on the home page and little fingers turning pages in the locked stories will find themselves making a purchase by turning the last free page.

I like sharing stories that have a good message with my kids and I think you’ll like the messages in Story Train.
