Amazon Mobile brings Amazon.com right to your iPhone. If you’ve got an Amazon.com account you’ll want to sign in on the home screen. This way the app can access your wish list, saved cart, shipping addresses, etc.

The search button lets you look for items and the app pulls up a list for you, just like on the website. Find something you like, give it a tap and Amazon Mobile shows you the item’s details, reviews, etc. It’s everything you can see on the Amazon.com site but in a very friendly iPhone format. If you decide to order something you can touch “Buy Now”, “Add to Cart” or “Add to Wish List”. When you’ve added things to your cart a red number will show up next to the cart icon at the bottom of the screen. Touch this button and you’ll see the things you’ve selected to buy now and your saved for later items. If you choose to go to the checkout you’ll find it’s really easy to make a purchase right from your iPhone. Once you’ve logged into your Amazon.com account your shipping and billing information is already available within the app so it’ll only take a few taps before you’re done.

I like having Amazon Mobile on my iPhone for the times when I’m shopping and wonder if I can get something cheaper online. Pre-iPhone I’d try to remember to do research once I got home. I’d come out ahead if the item turned out to be less expensive through Amazon. But if the original store was the better deal it’d mean another trip out. Now I use Amazon Mobile while I’m at the store. If Amazon’s the better deal I’ll order through them. If not, I’ll make my purchase at Walmart or whatever fine retail establishment I’m frequenting on that day.

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
