ApeekaZoo

Would your child like to play peek-a-boo with some friendly zoo animals? If so then ApeekaZoo is the app for you. It features jungle, safari and arctic animals that peek out at you from their natural habitat. There are 15 animals in all. They peek out and then disappear, then peek out and disappear, over and over until you tap on them. Then they’ll come out and tell you their name. You can use the arrows at the bottom of the screen to move forward and backward between animals.

The animals are fun and very well done. The folks behind this app come from different companies including Apple, Electronic Arts, Lucasfilm, Pixar and Disney.  If that doesn’t raise your expectations for an app I’m not sure what will.

ApeekaZoo is terrific for toddlers. It’s simple, repetitive and features something they enjoy (animals) playing a game they love (peek-a-boo). So instead of you playing an endless game of peek-a-boo at the doctors office or in a long line you can delegate that job to the sloth.

*Version 1.2 will be released in November. It will feature additional animals and Spanish. The update will be free for those who’ve already purchased the app.

Price when Reviewed: $.99

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
