aSleep lets you use your iPhone as a source of white noise if you’re having trouble falling asleep, or maybe you’re just in the mood for white noise. When you open the app you’ll see a screen with several buttons and some cute sheep. Touch “Timer” to set how long you want the noise to play. Be sure to touch “start timer” to begin the noise. I like that you can set your timer to play for 24 hours if you so desire. Touch the “Sound” button and you get a list of different sounds that aSleep will play. Choose anything from bubbles to scuba breathing to a volcano erupting. The volume control has a slider so you can set your volume without messing around with the iPhone volume. You can touch “Alarm” and turn on an alarm that will play at the end of your timer. This is great if you want to run aSleep all night long and then wake to an alarm in the morning. Touch “Shut Down” and slide the button to “on” if you want aSleep to shut down at the end of the timer.
I have several apps on my iPhone that do the same thing as aSleep. One of the things I like about this app is the variety of sounds. If falling asleep to the sound of a didjeridoo is your cup of tea this is the app for you.
