Audio Learn 2 Bee is a follow up to Audio Typing Bee, an app that I featured back in March. This time children will be practicing their spelling with the Dolch sight words. Two hundred and twenty “service” words and ninety-five common nouns have been included and they are broken up into the different Dolch levels. You’ll have the Pre-primer, Primer, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and Nouns lists. Learn 2 Bee comes with several ways to customize the app so that it works for a variety of skill levels. You can set it up so children see the number of letters needed in the word and so the letters they need are highlighted on the keyboard. Or you can do neither. Each word comes with a sentence so children have a cue for the word if they need it. You can adjust the amount of time they are given to spell the word and the number of rounds they’ll play at a time. Learn 2 Bee awards points for correct answers and tracks high scores for those who thrive on competition. If your child needs a little extra practice you’ll find a “Learn Words” option. This will display the spelling words and the sentences for flashcard practice with the sight words.
The only trouble that I had with the app came from understanding the voice. At times I found it difficult to understand what the words it was saying. It’s got a computerized, almost robotic sound to it and personally I would prefer a voice that clearly annunciated the words. Other than that Audio Learn 2 Bee is a great app for early spellers. I’ll be using it with my own first grader. I really like all of the customization features because they help eliminate frustration and discouragement while still allowing for a challenge.
I have been given four promo codes to give away for Audio Learn 2 Bee. This is an iPad only app and if you’d like to give it a try please leave me a comment below. I’ll be choosing winners Wednesday night. If you don’t win a code not to worry. The price has been lowered to $1.99 through October 20th so my readers can take advantage of the price drop.

I would like to try this since it also teaches the student how to use the word in a sentence. Only concern is why is the word to be spelled is in uppercase?

Whereoscope. I don’t believe there’re many free altirnateves to Find My iPhone, unfortunately. Find My iPhone is free, however, if you make an account on an iPhone 4, 4th generation iPod touch, or iPad. If you don’t have one but want me to help you set it up, just email me; I have an iPhone 4, so I’d be able to sign up on my phone, and then it would let you sign up on yours. Email me: Was this answer helpful?
