Here’s another app for helping you keep track of crazy life with a new baby. From feedings to diaper changes to naps, Baby Geek can track eighteen different events. It’s also got the capability for you to create your own custom events. You can add alarms to remind you about things like feeding the baby, putting them down for a nap, etc. There is a section where you can enter in your baby’s height and weight and chart their growth. The app also includes an immunization schedule. I found this feature very easy to use. It lists the recommended immunizations and you tap them to check it off and then add the date.  With this you can have a record of baby’s shots with you at all times. There’s also a schedule for keeping track of flu shots. With this app you also get a development schedule. It lists developmental milestones and the months when your baby should be reaching them. When baby masters something you tap it and check it off the list. If you haven’t marked something and your baby is older then the recommended age an exclamation mark appears next to the milestone.

When I was trying out the app I did run into some trouble with the buttons. There were times when I’d tap a button and it wouldn’t respond. Other times it did but it took a few seconds. I’m not sure why this is but it got a little frustrating when I was entering in data. Baby Geek has a very technical feel to it and it covers a lot of ground.

*Update- 12/8/09 – Baby Geek has had an update and when I tried it out again I didn’t experience any of the button trouble I’d had previously.

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
