BabyWatch Mobile is the app for expectant parents, grandparents and all of their friends who are on “baby watch” – waiting and watching for the new arrival’s arrival. The app works like a type of baby Facebook, privately updating selected followers on progress, labor news and finally! baby details. BabyWatch connects with your Facebook account and uses this to pull in your list of friends. You can then invite these friends to become your followers in BabyWatch. If they purchase the app they’ll have access to everything. If they don’t then they’ll receive text message updates.
Using BabyWatch you’ll have your own “Watch List”. This is where you can access your list of babies that you’re following. The “My Baby” section is where you’ll make your own updates about your baby. A notes tab gives you a screen where you can make updates, even including photos. The mom tab has your due date and labor information. There’s a place to track your status (none, mild, strong), contractions (time apart), effacement (percentages) and dialation (centimeters). If you’re able to keep the updates coming then your followers are going to feel like they’re right there in labor and delivery with you! The baby tab will notify all your BabyWatch friends once your baby has arrived. All you will need to do is tap the boy or girl button. Finally there is a location tab. Here you can mark whether or not you are at the hospital and if you are taking visitors. There’s even a space for the address and visiting hours.
BabyWatch Mobilehas a great user interface and design. It’s very clean and well laid out. Always a plus for me. I really like the idea of having a way to quickly and easily notify folks about baby information without having to make numerous phone calls or texts. I do wish there was a way for people that were only following babies to use the app for free. Perhaps just a limited version? Something that only gave them access to the Watch List and nothing else? Just a thought but is only a $.99 app and having the option to only receive texts is a nice backup. Overall this is a unique app that could definitely be a time and stress saver for expecting parents.
