Caloween is a Halloween Advent Calendar, a way to count down the days to all that cavity inducing candy. The app has thirty-one buttons, one for each day of the month. The idea is to tap a button and open a “portal into the mysterious Caloween house”. When you do this you’ll discover a hidden creature. You’ll also find a paid app that is free for just that day. The tap of a button takes you straight to iTunes where you can download the app. Some days might feature a preview of an app under development instead.
Since it’s not October yet I’ve only been able to preview the app and get a glimpse of what’s behind the portals. My kids love advent calendars and Halloween. Combining the two and then adding in free apps sounds like a fun October to me!
Caloween – with one “L” is the advent calendar for kids. Calloween with two “L’s” is the scarier, version.

An update – my 3-year old is LOVING this app. It cracks her up to listen to the narratives in the daily free ‘-ary’ stuff we’ve got thus far (‘Monsterary’ etc.). What a terrific idea, and so many extra free apps! Love it. Tell me there will be a Christmas one, PLEASE!!
