News Addict
Written by The iPhone Mom on March 29, 2010 – 5:30 amNews Addict is a slick looking app that gives you access to fourty-one websites for news sites, magazines, network channels and major newspapers. The app is designed to look like a newsstand with the icons for the different websites spread across it. Tap on the website you’d like to read and the it will open within the app. From here you can navigate your way around the site. There is a feature called “tilt scrolling” that allows you to tilt your iPhone to scroll down/up the screen. At times I really liked this feature but at other times it drove me a little crazy. There were times when the websites took a minute to load up in the app but I like the way News Addict gives me access to so much in one place.

Code Mobile
Written by The iPhone Mom on October 12, 2009 – 8:15 amCode Mobile brings missing person reports and Amber Alerts to your iPhone. It uses “Push” notification so you can receive updates even when the app itself isn’t open. If you are in an area where an Amber Alert is issued you will be notified on your phone. You can also view alerts for the U.S. and Canada anytime through the app. Tap on an alert and you’ll see description information about the victim. You can also view alert details, suspect and vehicle descriptions. From within Code Mobile you can submit a tip. If you tap that button you’ll be able to directly call the involved law enforcement agencies or submit a tip electronically.
Code Mobile is a free app and in my opinion there’s no reason to not have it on your iPhone. The more eyes and ears watching out out for all our children the better.

USA Today
Written by The iPhone Mom on February 4, 2009 – 9:00 amA great app that brings USA Today to your iPhone. The thing that I like about USA Today is the way you get news in a short, easy to read format. For those of us who primarily read picture books this is a welcome thing.
The "Headlines" button takes you to the news stories. Along the top of the screen are more buttons – Top News, News, Money, Sports & Life. Touch one of these buttons and it brings up stories in those categories.
The "Scores" button at the bottom takes you to Sports scores. Along the top are more buttons for NFL, MLB, NBA, etc. I can honestly say the only time those buttons will be touched is if my husband borrows my phone.
"Weather" takes you to a great page. You can set your favorite locations and USA Today will pull up the current conditions and 5-day forecast for that location. Touch the "i" at the bottom left of the screen and you can change your favorite locations. To do this touch "Add New Location" then type in the city you want to add. You can also delete cities from your favorite list by touching the red minus next to their name and then touching the "delete" that shows up. Back on the main weather page if you touch "Current Location" you’ll get the weather information for where you are at that very moment. "National Weather Maps" pulls up the different weather maps for the nation. In case you wondered what the radar was doing in Albuquerque that day.
The "Pictures" button shows you pictures from USA Today. "Snaphots" brings up questions/issues that you can vote on. Under the Life section in Snapshots I got the question "when do you throw out your underwear?" This is an important and timely issue if there ever was one, especially when you have a four year old boy in your house.
