Click n’ Colour

I see plenty of coloring book apps for the younger crowd but not many that suit older children. When I say coloring book apps, I’m not talking about apps like Drawing Pad – sketch pads for imaginations of all ages. What I mean are apps that provide an actual picture to color in. I don’t know about your house but my eleven year old won’t consider coloring in farm animals unless she’s coloring with her little sister. This is why I was keen to take a look at the Click n’ Colour apps, they seem to address a demographic that still enjoys coloring but needs more age appropriate content.
Click n’ Colour images are very detailed, think lots and lots of of small spaces to color in. They are art from Australian artist Debbie Neale. These are the type of pictures that would give my hand a serious cramp if I was coloring them in with a crayon! Thanks to the magic of the iPad they can be colored in with a simple tap of the finger. Should you think that’s too easy for an older child I can tell you that the details in these images will keep them busy for some time. Myself, I found it relaxing to tap and color over and over. Images include designs, words and fancy alphabet letters. Finished Click n’ Color images can be saved or emailed. My only requested improvements of Click n’ Colour would be to add more colors and a “trash” button. The colors that are offered are bright and fun, but there are only 13 available. I’m requesting the trash button so you can quickly erase all of the colors from an image. Other than that the app is terrific! One last thing to note, you may also print out the black and white images from Click n’ Colour and your children can also color them in the traditional way.
There are several Click n’ Colour apps available in the App Store, here’s a quick look at what’s available and why they’re different.
