Color Dog

March 31, 2011

Color Dog puts a twist on a matching game. It presents several different scenes, each with different colored dog “shadows” and matching white dogs that have lost their color. Underneath the colored shapes your child will see the matching color word. They must match the white dog up with it’s shadow. They can do this by looking at the shapes and finding the matches. They can also tap on the white dogs to reveal their color and then match it to the colored shadow. There are three levels of difficulty which will determine how much help your child receives before they make the match.

Once your child has figured out which dogs belong where then the white dogs will need to be dragged into their positions. As your child puts them into place they’ll unlock little animations around the scene. Your child can also interact with the dogs by tapping or petting them. Each dog has a different expression but I found them all adorable.

Color Dog will also speak the names of the colors out loud. It does this in several different languages. You may choose between English, German, French, Japanese, French or Spanish. This is a cute app and will be best suited for preschoolers just learning their colors.

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
