Coloring Book Paint Mixer HD

May 26, 2011

Coloring Book Paint Mixer HD works as a regular painting app but with a twist – children can mix and create custom colors. To begin they’ll be able to choose from several animal coloring pages, connect the dots pictures or blank background pages. To make things even more fun there’s also the option to paint on photos from iPad photo album. What your child chooses to color will determine whether they “fill” in the picture by tapping or draw freehand.

Once your child has chosen their picture it’s time to paint. They will be presented with four basic colors on the side of the screen. By tapping on one of these they select the color. They can then use their finger to draw/paint on the screen. Underneath those colors they’ll see a button with a paint palette. If your child taps this then they can mix the colors. All they must do is take a color from the palette and drag it onto one of the original colors on the side. They can mix as many of these colors as they like. When they’ve finished they’ll be able to use the new color in their picture. A sponge in the middle of the palette can be used to clean out the color so they can begin again.

The paint mixer feature of this app is wonderful. The colors are automatically saved if you exit the app and because children are free to mix as many colors as they’d like there’s no limit to what they can create.

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
