ColoringZoo is an animal coloring book app with a slight twist. These coloring pictures can be moved around the page. Each animal has a set of “touch points” and by tapping these you can move the animal on the screen. You might end up with an animal that’s in an entirely new pose from the one you began with.
ColoringZoo comes with ten animals to color and several blank pages. There are 48 different colors and three coloring modes. The first mode is the fill-in mode. Your child picks a color and then taps the screen, coloring the picture in chunks. The second mode is free hand coloring that stays in the lines. The coloring is done when your child moves their finger on the screen but the colors will always stay within the picture, even if their finger doesn’t. The final coloring mode lets children color wherever they want on the page.
ColoringZoo has a fun concept and posing the animals was easy to do. It would be great if there was a way to take this one step further and turn the posing into animation. More animals and perhaps more sophisticated drawings would also be a nice addition. One of the great things about this app is that half of the proceeds will be donated to the Make a Wish foundation.
A lite version of the app is also available – ColoringZoo Lite
