Connect N Color

March 24, 2011

Now here we go! Connect N Color combines connect the dot puzzles and color by numbers pictures. Two different ways to reinforce number recognition and number order. The pictures are presented as a story that follows Fuzzy the Fox for a day at school. The story is made up of different scenes and each scene will have at least one (often more) connect the dot puzzles to complete. After you’ve completed the puzzles you can color in the picture with special numbered crayons that match numbered sections on the picture.

I always enjoyed doing color by numbers pictures in school and I enjoy doing them today on the iPad. I like the idea of finishing a connect the dot puzzle to complete a picture before coloring it. Connect N Color has twelve different scenes for your child to work on. While they’re coloring you can play music from your iPad’s library, to set that up visit the app’s settings. The settings screen is also where you’ll find the directions on how to find the connect the dot puzzles in the pictures.

Connect N Color is available in an iPhone and a HD iPad version. I tried out the iPad version and I really liked having the large screen to work with. The app will allow you to zoom in on parts of the scene when you are coloring and I think that would come in handy when using the iPhone or iPod Touch. I really like the concept of this app and it’s been well executed and put together. I think my only suggestion would be to make the instructions more easily accessible, at least for the first time the app was opened. Other than that minor quibble – this is a very well done way to sneak in number practice for toddlers and preschoolers!

Price when Reviewed: $.99 for iPhone/iPod Touch version and $1.99 for HD iPad verison

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
