Do you ever have those days where you can tell where you have been and what you’ve done by the look of your hair? Curly Hair, Straight Hair is a darling digital book that tells the story of a little girl by following what happens to her hair throughout the day. In the morning when she wakes up, her hair is messy and grumpy. She goes to school and her hair rides on the bus, sits in class, and experiences recess and lunch. Once home, her hair must take a bath, get brushed and go to bed. This is a delightful, relatable story that little ones can find pleasure in reading everyday.

The Curly Hair, Straight Hair app includes both an English and Spanish version of the book. You also have the choice of Read to Me or Read to Myself when setting up the app for your child. The narrator in the English Read to Me version is a child, while the Spanish version sounds like an adult. In both versions the words are highlighted as they are read aloud. If you select the Read to Myself version of this app your little one will be able to practice their reading while receiving help if needed. If they have trouble with certain words, they are able to tap on them and hear them said aloud by the narrator. On the title page of this app you and your child will also find a link to a helpful Spanish/English dictionary composed of the words from the story. Curly Hair, Straight Hair is also visually stimulating for a young child. The illustrations are done in beautiful watercolors and there is an animation on each page. In my opinion, this is an enjoyable story that will help teach your little one a second language and grow with them as they are learning to read.
