Discovering Klimt

January 30, 2012

Discovering Klimt is an interactive children’s book based on the artwork of Gustav Klimt. The story feature in Discovering Klimt is called “Mommy, Are You Sleeping”, and is about a little girl and her mother’s conversation about the beauty of dreams. Klimt’s paintings are brought to life through a narrative that makes them relatable to the reader. Before the narration of each page begins the featured painting enlarges, filling the screen so that the reader may get a better look at the artist’s work. The words of the story are highlighted as they are read, helping young readers follow along with the story. “Mommy, Are You Sleeping” can be read two ways: Read Aloud and Autoplay. Read Aloud allows readers to go at their own pace. They control when the next page gets turned, where Autoplay plays the book like a movie. Discovering Klimt also includes three puzzles in the “Activities and Games” section of the app. The paintings The Three Ages of Women, The Tree of Life, and The Kiss are broken into ten piece jigsaw puzzles for children to solve. Discovering Klimt is an enjoyable introduction for young and old into the artwork of Gustav Klimt.

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
