Ditty Bop Review
Alright, all of you out there. You know who you are, the social gamers that love posting high scores on Facebook and playing Words with Friends. Maybe you like a bit of karaoke too. Well do I have an app for you. Ditty Bop takes the best of both scenarios and puts them together in a doo wop, jam fest. The rules are simple – just choose a song and hum, whistle, beat box or sound it without using words. Then send it to a friend to see if they can guess your Ditty Bop!
Start by setting up your star persona. There are four characters to choose from D Bitty, the young and talented athletic boy. Bopalicious, the trendsetting rising star. Boppin Bart, who’s a little bit country and a little bit rock’n roll. Then there’s Sweet Dee, that’s who I chose, not just because of her name but because like me she doesn’t tell anyone her age
Next its time to start a session. You can search challengers by username, connect with Facebook friends or try your luck with a random opponent.
Now its time to step up to the mic. There are four songs to choose in a turn with a diverse genre. I was able to find a children’s song each time I played, so its great for playing as a family. Guess your opponent’s song? You can offer them feedback by sending a clap or a cheer. Earn stars and trophies for your performance as well. The stars can be used to purchase helpers. For instance, if you have an unfamiliar line-up, access a hint with a song play.
I have to be honest. When I play Words with Friends it’s more like word with friends, because I hear the notifications but then I forget to check in and take my turn. And when it comes to getting my groove on, I’m not much for sharing. It took me a while to get the courage to step up to the mic, and I wasn’t going to challenge people I know. I didn’t have much luck with players from the random draw though. I hold none of these Ditty Boppers responsible. I chose the easy kid songs because they’re the ones I know and my musical talent lies in the shuffle on my playlist, not my vocals. This review was starting to worry me, when my kids came to the rescue. In a moment of friend down time I passed my daughter and her friend the app and had them send a challenge to a cousin. Easy as that, the streak was on. Plenty of giggles and down right belly laughs filled the room as they listened to their recordings, re-recorded and sent it on.
Ditty Bop proved to be a fun filled musical experience our whole family could enjoy.
