Dragon Checkers by StoryBoy

Dragon Checkers is a fabulous iPad app and a unique twist on a classic. My son loves the game of checkers but in order to play he has to use his sister’s Care Bears checkers set. I enjoy moving the Care Bears around on their fluffy clouds but I’ll admit it’s not the most manly checker set every created. I am very excited to show him Dragon Checkers in the morning because I know he’s going to love this app.

Dragon Checkers plays with regular checkers rules and board but the checkers have dragon icons on them. Before you begin a game you will select the type of dragon you’d like for your character. You can chose to play a one or two player version of the app. One player pits you against the app and I won’t be playing that version again. I was shut down in all of three minutes. The two player version allows you to play against a friend. You set the iPad between you and each of you claims a side of the screen and moves from that direction. When you move your checkers and are able to jump an opponent you’ll hear the sound effect of the checker being eaten. There’s also a “Roar” button you can press when you want to intimidate your opponent with a frightening dragon sound.

Dragon Checkers is very good fun and it’s on sale for only $.99 until July 18th. That’s a steal for an iPad app, especially one of this quality. If you have checker players in your family you’ll want to grab this one. Dragon Checkers is based on the app All About Dragons by StoryBoy. That app is also on sale for $.99 through the 18th.
