Eartha the Sea Turtle is a storybook app with a message about how we treat the environment and the animals around us. I usually have a hard time with children’s literature that focuses on this type of issue. Not that I don’t think it’s important to take care of our environment, I just don’t like how some stories hit you over the head with their point, only to hit you again and again. Eartha wasn’t like that at all and I enjoyed this story. The message was still there (my kids caught onto it right away) but the way it’s presented isn’t obnoxious. This app comes with a bonus story and I enjoyed it just as much as the main one. The bonus story tells of the real Eartha the Sea Turtle and features photographs illustrating the story. It was nice to learn about Eartha’s background and I’ve decided sea turtles are pretty darn cute.
The app is well done and runs smoothly. My only complaint is I was unable to find a pause button for the story. I’d like to be able to stop and restart if I needed to.
