Eat Sleep Review

Waiting for the arrival of a new bundle of joy is always exciting.  As I write this review our friends are at the hospital to deliver their second little girl.  Even though this isn’t their first time with a new baby, I know it’s still going to be an adjustment when they take her home. And I think I’ve found a handy app to stick in their gift basket that might make things a little easier.  I’m going to gift them Eat Sleep.

Eat Sleep is a log to record baby’s eating, sleeping and diaper routine.  It’s simple to set up your child’s profile and you can even include a picture of your little cherub.  Entering data is as easy as touching a button.  Press the bottle to record feedings, the crib for sleeping, safety pin for diapers, and the syringe for medications. I love that for a nursing mom they made sure to include notation for which side the baby fed and for how long. Bottle feedings notes the number of ounces and whether it was formula or expressed.  Being able to chart sleep habits is so helpful in establishing a working schedule.

The iPhone Mom has a previous review on the site, but I wanted to look through it for myself before passing it to my friends. (see review) Although all my babies are long past the formula and diaper stage, I found this app extremely helpful during our holiday bout with the flu.  With a fevers hovering around 103I needed to know when I administered medication and I was worried about dehydration.  I gave me peace of mind and would have been handy if our doctor needed us to come to the office.  I could also set up multiple profiles which would make it handy for moms with twins or siblings close in age.

This is a free app, supported by advertisements that run at the bottom of the screen. An in-app purchase option to export data to email to a doctor or spouse removes the adds.

Of all the things I’m putting in the gift basket, Eat Sleep may be the most helpful.
