Today I’m wondering if I’m one of the few or if there are  many who have over a thousand picture memories stored on their iDevice. I love how handy it is to always have a camera with me complete with several photo editing apps. I’ve also got apps to neatly organize images and journal about the events for future use. But there they still sit. Tucked away on my camera roll. I think its time to set them free with an app I’ve gotten to try recently, FreePrints.

FreePrints is a remarkably easy print studio app. Simply download and you are ready to go. After allowing access to my accounts, I selected my shots and then chose the print size. Easy peasy my order was set and ready to place. Add shipping information and within 6 days I had actual printed images in my hand. Orders are not limited to camera roll either but include Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Yahoo and Google+ accounts.

I did learn a thing or two when ordering my prints. Make sure you’ve done all your editing in other apps first. Other than cropping images for 5×5 or other print sizes there are no editing features that I found. Also, you are allowed a max of 85 free prints per month. That’s actually pretty impressive considering its over 1000 prints per year, but it isn’t disclosed when you open the app. I discovered this after I had happily tagged all 700 photos from last year’s summer trip for my order. Boy, was that a hefty price tag. (Seriously, I didn’t expect all 700 prints to be free, I just didn’t know how may were covered.) Per image, the prices are VERY reasonable, just .09¢ for standard 4×6 size. This also applies for double prints, even if you are under your free print limit and the handling fee was a bit higher than I expected.

I was very pleased with the quality of the prints when I received them. I purposely ordered prints of original and touched up images to see how they would look. Both were true to my screen image. If your image is grainy, your print will be grainy. I also chose standard 5-13 day shipping and yes they were in my mailbox in 6 days. If you are in a rush an additional dollar will have them to you in 4-6 days. I love that with no additional interface or connections I can get prints directly from my iDevice. Thanks FreePrints! I now have no excuse for storing all my photos virtually.

Disclosure: I received free shipping on my prints for review purposes.
