Games for Kids – an app for children with 6 different games

January 27, 2012

Wombi’s newest app is a collection of six educational games for children. The graphics are adorable and right in line with Wombi’s other titles. Parents have the option to customize the app when it comes to turning on voice instructions, choosing the size of font, the number of points needed to complete each game and more. I liked seeing the different options for personalization. Here’s a quick look at each of the included games.

  • Odd One Out - Children are shown a group of objects and they must tap on the objects that don’t belong.
  • Memory - This is a traditional game of memory where children search for matching pairs of cards.
  • Puzzle - Children drag puzzle pieces to their correct spot in order to finish simple puzzles.
  • Parade - Patterns are shown on screen and children must use objects to fill in the missing spaces in the pattern.
  • Guess the Word - A narrator states a word and children look at a group of objects and tap on the picture that matches the word.
  • Sorting - When shown a group of objects children drag and drop them into different boxes, sorting them by type.

Games for Kids has three levels of difficulty for each game. The easiest level seems about right for older toddlers and children can work up from there. There are more than 100 different objects featured in the games. The app supports English, Swedish, Portuguese, Danish, Dutch and Norwegian which means children can use the app to learn vocabulary in another language. I’ve always enjoyed Wombi’s apps and Games for Kids is no exception. I enjoyed the variety of the games and the customization.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
