Geo Bees

Geo Bees is a geography game where you are given a question and then shown several bees who are holding different answers. Hence the name of the app, GeoBees. Your job is to answer the question by tapping on the bee with the correct answer. The app will count down the time and keep track of how well you’re doing with your answers. At the end of your game you’ll be shown a list of your questions and answers. You can review them or tap on an answer to see that particular location on a map. I liked this feature because geography names don’t mean much to me unless I can visualize where they are actually located. Geo Bees has three levels of difficulty and even the easiest level is tough. This is definitely an app for older students.

The one thing that caused me trouble with this app was that I didn’t always have the correct answer in my group of bees. The app presents four bees at a time and there were times when the answer was not with those bees. If I didn’t see my answer I would have to wait for another group. This got a bit confusing at times and I’d rather see a correct answer in each group. I think it would minimize frustration. Overall it’s nice to see a geography app for older players that presents a challenge.

I have several promo codes to give away for both the iPhone and iPad HD versions of Geo Bees. If you’re interested in trying a code and providing some feedback please leave a comment. Codes only valid in the US App Store.

*Update 9/11/10 – The animation I mentioned can be turned off in the settings. This will give you a regular multiple choice setup.

I wouldn’t mind one of these. Don’t think I’ve ever bought a Geography app before.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
