If you have been wishing for a new and exciting interactive storybook for your iPad – your wish has been granted! I honestly have to say, this is one of my favorite storybook apps ever! Gone Wishing tells the tale of a boy genie, Jacob, who was born into a family of legendary wish granters – the Mimbles. The Mimbles had given the world incredible wonders, and ran a wonderful company called Best Wishes – “the largest wish-granting company in the world”. Leprechauns, fairies and genies worked tirelessly every day at Best Wishes to grant all the wishes in the world. Jacob wanted more than anything to be like his father, the great Mortimer Mimble, who could make any wish come true. There was only one tiny problem – Jacob couldn’t make a single wish come true…you’ll have to read to find out what happens!
The graphics and animations of this app are some of the best I have come across as far as storybook apps go – colorful and engaging. The story really comes to life with all of the brilliant animations and interactive features. There are games within the story and numerous ways to interact on each and every page – such as tossing coins into a wishing well or rubbing lanterns to make genies pop out! I thought the “?” button at the top of the screen was a helpful feature – little ones can push this when they need a clue to figure out what to interact with on the screen. I also liked that there are options for “auto play”, “read to me”, and “read it myself”.
I really loved this storybook app! I feel that the app is well worth the $3.99 price tag. The graphics, animations, sound and interactions of this app are top-notch. I know that my son and I will enjoy reading this book together and I hope that you give it a read as well!
