Are you ready for Mother Goose like you’ve never seen her before? Yes? Well pull up a tuffet and get ready for a wildly entertaining ride through some nursery rhymes. In Goosed Up Rhymes Mother Goose will read stories to you and some adorable ducklings. If you look closely you’ll see the Ugly Duckling is ready for story time too. That should be your first clue that there’s some sly humor coming your way. You can select a chapter (nursery rhyme) to listen to or you can go through the rhymes one after another.
Mother Goose presents her rhymes in funny, fully animated sequences. She narrates and the text appears at the top of the screen, words are highlighted while Mother Goose reads them out loud. After the rhyme is finished you can tap on the screen to discover all sorts of quirky surprises. You’ll also be able to bring back the text and by tapping on a word you can hear it spoken aloud again. Four of the rhymes have mini-games that tie back in with their story. You’ll have a chance to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, play a matching game to earn Mother Hubbard’s dog a bone and play whack-a-farmer’s-wife with the Three Blind Mice. Twisted, hilarious, games that literally had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed all of the Goosed Up rhymes but I think if I had to pick a favorite it would be Old Mother Hubbard. Seeing her depicted as a neglectful cat lady with a poor, long-suffering dog gave the rhyme a whole new meaning. I think adults are going to find just as much humor in this app as their children will.
Hopefully we’ll be lucky enough to get a new rhyme or two in a future update. Please, please keep the Goosed Up Rhymes coming!
