Grover’s Number Special

Grover’s Number Special was an app that I really enjoyed trying out and it brought back many memories of my time with Sesame Street.  This app features Grover working as a waiter at Charlie’s Restaurant. He is attempting to serve his customer Mr. Johnson. (He’s the grumpy blue Muppet that always has the “luck” to get Grover as a waiter. I didn’t know his name so thank you Wikipedia for helping me out.) One of the wonderful things about this app is that it features real Muppet puppets, not animations. The video is also original to the app, not taken from an episode of Sesame Street.

The idea behind Grover’s Number Special is that Grover is hard at work serving customers but Charlie didn’t come in to cook so he needs your help. Grover comes out and presents the special of the day to Mr. Johnson then you need to help him gather ingredients so he can put things together. These ingredients start falling from the sky and you’ve got to tilt your iPhone from side to side to catch the falling food. Once you’ve caught the number Grover needs he’ll mix things together and present the food to Mr. Johnson. But…in true Grover style things don’t always go as planned and he just might need your help again. And again.

This app was wonderful and perfect for young Sesame Street fans. We loved it. It looks like there is also an Elmo’s Monster Maker app coming soon. I hope they keep the Sesame Street apps coming because Grover’s Number Special was extremely well done. (Don’t judge the app based on my screen shots. I had a hard time capturing Grover because he is constantly in motion. The video quality in this app is excellent.)

One a side note, when you check out the app in iTunes be sure to read the description and you’ll find some great testimonials from names you might recognize.

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
