Wow! The artwork in Mindshape’s new Hickory Dickory Dock is gorgeous. The interactions are clever and downright silly. Overall it’s one very entertaining app based on the familiar nursery rhyme. Everything centers around a large clock. In Hickory Dickory Dock, something happens to the mouse at every o’clock. Children listen to the song and then tap the numbers on the clock face to trigger action on the screen. When they do this look out Mr. Mouse – something is about to happen! Whether it’s taking a bath, baking or cleaning, the mouse is doing something round the clock. Literaly! Each of the activities requires interaction from you to make things happen. It took me a few “hours” into the rhyme to realize just how key my interaction was. Even though I had a tough time figuring a few of them out I’m certain my kids will pick it right up. This is the type of app that’s geared for children who are used to apps and know that you need to tap, tilt and explore everywhere.

Everything just seems to work so well together in this app. From the sound effects to the graphics and animation to the enjoyment factor. Children will enjoy the silly activities and they’ll be learning the numbers of the hours on the clock at the same time.
