iVerse Comics

iVerse Media brings the classic Archie comics to the iPhone. I never really got into comic books, or “graphic novels” as they seem to be called nowadays but  know they’re a big deal. My son eats up the Star Wars Clone Wars Adventure Books and I see the appeal of a story with lots of pictures.

These comic book apps work like other storybook apps in that you swipe your finger across the screen to turn the page. Each page features a comic panel. In the Archie story that I tried there were over 62 screens. The illustrations transferred well to the iPhone and they look like they’re straight from a comic book.

iVerse Media offers comic books for Archie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and a spinoff series about her cat Salem.  Each “book” comes in different chapters. It appears that the first chapter in each series is usually free. After that each additional one is $.99. So be prepared that if you start on the free chapter and get hooked you’re going to have to pay up to finish the story.

I have two promo codes to give away for “Archie: Will You Marry Me?”. First two comments win them.

*Search “iVerse Media” in iTunes and you’ll see they have many more comics besides the ones I mentioned.*

Price when Reviewed: Free & $.99

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
