iWatchLife works with video systems to give you access to live camera events on your iDevice. Using the app you’ll have access to what’s appearing on your webcam or IP camera line views. You’ll also be able to see detected events and recorded event video. iWatchLife will work with any webcam but if you want to purchase a special iWatchLIfe IP camera you’ll have access to several extra features. The service (and app download) itself is free.
I don’t have a web cam or access to an IP camera so I wasn’t able to completely test out this app. However, in doing some research for this review I learned about the difference between motion detection and “smart event detection”. Smart event detection is more discerning about movements caught on camera than the motion sensors. You’ll only be notified when something important were to happen in your home and this avoids notifications for things like shadows or branches by the cameras. The developers suggested to me that moms could set the system up as a type of baby monitor that would notify you when your child stood up in their crib. The basic service of iWatchLife is free and there are upgraded features available for additional cost. As I mentioned earlier it will work with any webcam but iWatchLife IP cameras are also available for purchase.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later. This app is designed for both iPhone and iPad.
