Jumbline 2 is a new app that is perfect for people who like word games. But beware, it is addicting! I love word games and games that you can pick up and play a couple of rounds quickly – and this is one of those types of apps. While many of the words may be more difficult for little ones to spell, there are many words that children who are a little older could solve and it is great practice. There are three ways to play Jumbline 2: Classic, Cloud Pop, and Star Tower.
Classic: In the Classic mode of play, you are able to choose from a “big word” size of either 5, 6 or 7 letters- the “big word” size is the biggest word which you will have to solve to pass a level. You can also choose to play with expert words if you really want a challenge. Depending on how competitive you want to be you can either play timed or un-timed. Personally, I think that the Classic mode of play is my favorite, but I enjoy the others as well.
Cloud Pop: In the Cloud Pop mode of play, you will try to form words with the letters within clouds as they pass by the screen. There may be more than one word that can be spelled with the letters within a certain cloud, if you solve the more difficult word you will score higher – but you must use all letters in a cloud when playing a word. You must solve the words within the clouds before they pass by the screen in order to score points. You do not have to solve every cloud, but you may only miss a certain number before your game is over. Be on the lookout for heart clouds which contain extra lives and speedy storm clouds which pass by quicker than others.
Star Tower: In the Star Tower mode of play, you are building a tower as you spell words. You will be given a row of 7 letters to work with, the larger the word you spell the taller the blocks your word spells. For example, a six letter word of “beware” would produce a word roughly twice as tall a three letter word of “are” – but both would be playable words. The goal in this game mode is to stay above the yellow line that spans the screen – if you sink below the line your game is over.
I really enjoyed this app and feel that it is geared towards both adults and children. You could definitely help teach your children how to spell while playing this app. I recommend trying this app and feel that it is a great way to learn while having fun!
