Lala’s ABC

This is an adorable ABC flashcard app from the same folks behind the Little Lala app. I absolutely loved the illustrations for this app. You can tap play and the flashcards will scroll through the entire alphabet. On each screen you’ll see a letter, picture and word. The narrator says the letter, makes the letter’s sound and then says the word. You can also tap shuffle and the app will show you flashcards in a random order.  There’s an index button that will show you thumbnails of all the flashcards. Tap the one you want and it’ll pull up on your screen.

I think this app is excellent for teaching toddlers and young preschoolers. Two things I really liked: the illustrations and the fact that the narrator says the letter sounds. A great teaching app.

Also, check out Happy Baby – Alphabet learning tool
    – English alphabets are displayed sequentially (like flash cards).
    – Alphabets are pronounced (Optional switch).
    – Pause button to stop at an alphabet
    – Reset button to start over
    – Timer can be adjusted to delay display of alphabets

Hi! I recently learned about this site from an article on Tech Crunch. Also check out these interactive musical apps for kids:

Old MacDonald on the AppStore: http://tinyurl.com/oldmacdonald

Wheels on the Bus on the AppStore (featured in the New York Times, a top educational app): http://tinyurl.com/wheelsonbus

WebMD Baby was released earlier this month and it is awesome! Seriously one of the best “baby” apps I’ve seen to date

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
