Language Master Western Europe

June 20, 2010

As I try out different apps I often find myself wishing that I IMG_0710.jpghad these tools when I was in school. It’s amazing how many types of learning resources are available now. I’ve recently tried out the Language Master Western Europe app and I came away thinking it would have been wonderful to have this app when I was in high school learning Spanish. Languages do not come easily to me and I struggle enough with the English language, especially now that I have children. I find myself using “kid terms” in adult conversations all the time and I often wonder what people walk away thinking after they’ve spoken with me. Probably that I need to get out of my house more. Now if I ever needed to relearn the Spanish I once knew, or even learn a new language, I’d use an app like this. I’ve only delved into the beginning levels of it but it made learning the vocabulary fun and I was actually doing well at it.

Language Master Western Europe features French, German, Greek, Italian and Spanish words. You begin learning each language in the easy mode. This consists of learning the words and then practicing with them. You’re given both pictures and text to help you learn the vocabulary and the app will pronounce the words for you. I found it easy to work with this format and the practice was helpful and even entertaining. Once you’ve passed through the easy level you’ll move on to the medium level, then hard and finally master.

If you’re looking to learn a language or you have a child who’s taking a language in school this is a fun app for practicing the vocabulary. According to the developer’s website additional Language Master editions will be available soon.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
