Let’s Color 2 Review

I have a 6 year old who is addicted to art. This girl would easily go through a ream of paper a week if I let her. She simply loves to create things…which I love, don’t get me wrong. However, the constant supply of paper, glue, and markers can get to be a bit spendy after a while. I love apps like Let’s Color 2 because it provides her with the tools to create works of art that are contained in my iPad and don’t need to ever be replenished!

Let’s Color 2 is simply a coloring book on your iPad. Children can choose a picture to color and an endless palette of colors appears on the left. For younger children, tap the color you want to use and then tap the area on the picture that you want to color and it will automatically fill in with your color. If your child is older and has better fine motor skills, you can switch to “Finger Drawing Mode” and they can color the pictures in manually. Each basic color also has 4 stripes of different shades of that color that you can choose as well. Or, you can tap the prism button at the bottom and manually move the circle over the prism to the exact color you want. The possibilities are infinite.

With the initial free download, you can choose from one of 19 coloring books. Additional books can be purchased for $0.99 each. Also for $11.99 you can purchase all of the books or there are 6 book packages for $4.99. I love the variety of coloring books that this app offers. Kids can choose from Fairy Tales to Pirates or Space Voyage to Bugs. There are plenty of choices for girls or boys, younger children and older children. Each book has approximately 10 pages of pictures to color. The pictures are beautifully illustrated, fun to color and simple enough that younger children won’t get overwhelmed by too much detail. The pictures can also be saved into a “Gallery” so none of your child’s artwork gets lost and they can scroll through all of their creations or share them with you.

My art-enthusiast has already created a gallery of over 20 pictures. It really is a wonderful app for the creative children in your family. My 2-year old has even created some masterpieces of his own as he has sat and giggled at the vibrant colors that appear as he taps the screen. Purchasing the additional books is well worth the cost as it will save you money that would be spent on crayons and coloring books that cannot be re-used. I would highly recommend this app for any family with children ages 2 and up. It is an ideal way to keep your children quiet and entertained while stimulating their creativity at the same time!

Price: Initial download with 1 book for Free.  Additional books can be purchased in-app for $0.99 each.
