Little Digits
Counting is one of the most important skills that our children will learn when they are young. Let me just say, I love the Little Digits app and its intuitive design. Kids will actually be able to learn to count using their fingers with Little Digits as it features a multi-touch interface. The design of the Little Digits app is truly ingenious and is geared towards children ages 3 to 7 years old.
I think that this is one of the most intuitive and creative educational apps that I have seen for the iPad. Using the multi-touch screen on the iPad, Little Digits will display number characters by detecting how many fingers your child has placed on the screen. Children will learn how to associate the number on the screen with the number of fingers they place down on the iPad. There are three general modes in the Little Digits app – 1) 123 mode – kids will place a certain number of fingers down on the iPad screen and the app will call out the number – they can count to 10 with their fingers and learn number order by counting 0 to 10 and back down, 2) Addition mode – kids will be given an addition problem and will have to solve it by placing the correct number of fingers down on the screen, 3) Subtraction mode – kids will be a subtraction problem and will have to solve it by placing the correct number of fingers down on the screen. Being able to work out calculations with their fingers is a huge help to kids who are learning to count and do simple addition/subtraction – and this app is perfect for that! This app features retina graphic display and has lots of cute characters and great music.
I really loved the Little Digits app and its intuitive design. I think that children could easily learn how to count and do simple addition/subtraction with this app. I will definitely be using this app with my son and would highly recommend it to parents whose children are ready to learn how to count and do simple math!
