The app starts out as Lola is beginning to throw a party with all of her friends. While kids are waiting for the ice cream to melt a bit so it can be served, they will play a variety of educational games. How clever! The app begins with simple word recognition and graduates to more challenging tasks when your child is ready, this app will increase in difficulty. Kids will be asked various questions, such as: “What letter makes this sound?”, “What letter does this word start with?”, etc. There are also tracing exercises to help kids learn how to write their letters. I thought that the memory game was cute as well, kids are asked to match cards that have letters and objects on them (“h”, horse). This app teaches children upper and lower case letters, word recognition and word construction, too. I thought that all of the instructions were clear and concise and the app’s controls were intuitive. I like how the app is customized to each child’s learning pace. There are also no in-app purchases or advertising for parents to worry about. Once kids have finished learning, they can decorate the party venue with balloons, make their own ice cream creations, and even decorate the cake! I thought that was a great reward to have for completing the educational games!
I really enjoyed the Lola’s ABC Party app. If you have preschoolers or young children who are learning their alphabet, I would definitely recommend checking this app out. My son enjoys the app, while it is still a little difficult for him, he is almost 3 years old…I am sure he will love it soon.
