Lulu in Polynesia is a new app from the ZANZIBOOK, the app publisher behind Gus’ Little Coin and Lulu in Australia. This new app is a cute story that follows Lulu and her pet kitten, Zazou, as they travel through the different regions of Polynesia. The app includes an interactive story mode, which is animated and narrated in two languages, English and French. There is a cute little pink bird for children to find and interact with on each page – see if your little one can find it on every page! The interactive features of the book are quite fun – ranging from piecing together your own flower necklace (which ranges in difficulty – you may choose an easier necklace for the little ones reading the story) to picking fruit for lunch to hunting crabs and so much more!
During their travels, readers will learn fun facts about Polynesia – and, if the reader has a favorite destination in the story they may navigate directly to that part of the story by utilizing the map mode. I love that there are so many fun facts that are shared about the French Polynesian islands as you are reading the story. This app is an amazing learning tool and will teach your little one so many things about the regions you discover and explore. I really loved the feature at the end of the story where you are able to send a postcard to someone about your travels – you can either save the postcard or actually e-mail it. How cute!
I really enjoyed the Lulu in Polynesia app. I think that this app is one of the best I have ever seen as far as teaching children about new places and their customs. The animated graphics, music, and interactive features are awesome and help to really enhance the experience! I will definitely be sharing this app with my son – it may be the closest I get to traveling to Polynesia!
