Markup: A New Way for Teachers to Grade Papers
by Chrissy Giglio, a staff writer for Fueled. Fueled is a mobile app design firm in New York City that builds the webs most elegant and beautiful apps.
It’s pretty safe to say that the use of paper is becoming more and more outdated. The world is turning into a paperless place. Besides sparing the trees and keeping our environment healthy- it’s also allowing us to get through our days with fewer hassles (and papercuts).
The children of today have basically been actively using technology since the sweet day they entered this crazy place that we call Earth. So how come some ways simply have not changed yet?
Thanks to the creative minds behind Markup, a paperless grading tool, things may start to head toward a more productive and logical place.
All students know and dread that they will be required to write countless book reports and essays throughout their education. Luckily for most, computers are available to type up these lengthy projects. But once they’re typed up, spell checked and proofread- they get printed, stapled, tossed in a backpack and handed in to the teacher for review. Well we think students, parents and teachers will be excited to learn that with Markup, the days of paper and ink may just come to an end.
This handy app will allow the printing process to be subtracted from the whole equation. After the student is done with their assignment, the teacher will be able to electronically read, comment and grade it on their iPad. Markup currently has a Kickstarter profile in order to raise funds so they can get this great idea developed. Until March 20th, you’ll be able to back them with as little as $1. Their goal is a cool $7,500, and with your help you can help them reach that and hopefully surpass it! With this money they’ll be able to start working with developers and designers to make this app become a real life tool.
The creators behind Markup have already successfully released 7 other educational apps, including ShowMe. Based off of their past projects, Markup is sure to be a great success as well.
