MathBoard is a FANTASTIC educational tool for the iPad. The app is designed so that the screen looks like a chalkboard. The chalkboard displays a math problem at the top of the screen but at the bottom of the screen there is a space where you can solve the problem. In this space you can write on the screen and work out your answers. If you’re unable to solve the problem on your own you can use the “Problem Solver” feature. This will display a step by step guide to solving the Math problem. I loved this feature! Hooray for an app that shows you how to figure out a problem instead of just telling you that you’ve gotten it wrong!

MathBoard will track your results on the left of the screen and show you your correct and incorrect problems. The app allows you to work with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, squares, cubes and square roots. You can select the number of problems you want to answer (go all the way to 250 if you want!) and you can choose whether you want to answer problems by multiple choice or fill in the blank. You will have the capability to choose the number range for your math problems and this will let you taylor the app to different skill levels.

I love the way MathBoard has taken advantage of the iPad’s screen space and I think it’s wonderful to have an app that lets you work out your answers. Built in scratch paper. This is a Math app that I can absolutely recommend.

MathBoard Addition is a free version of MathBoard. It focuses solely on addition problems.
