Matt’s Pantry Review
Do you ever wish you had an app that would help you plan out the week’s family meals? Or teach you how to shop once and cook dinner for 5 nights? Meet Matt’s Pantry…The Matt’s Pantry cooking app was designed to help you shop once and then cook dinner for 5 nights! This app is specifically tailored to provide a weekly menu that will use ingredients throughout the week that might otherwise be wasted. I can think of many times when I buy something for one meal, but then have leftovers of ingredients that may not get used.
Matt’s Pantry is designed to help you use those ingredients that you buy for one specific meal and then you don’t know what to do with the rest. This app is a win-win because it helps you waste less and prepare easy recipes. Each recipe in the app is featured with a beautifully photographed step by step sequence of instructions that will help you as you cook the meal. Included in the app are four weeks worth of weekly menus, as well as one week customized for vegetarian meals. There are currently 100 recipes in the app within the following categories: Appetizers, Desserts, Vegetarian, Poultry, Meat, and Seafood.
I really thought that the Shopping List was a great touch. Users can simply add the recipes they would like to try and the Shopping List will automatically sort each ingredient on your list as it would appear in the different areas of the grocery store. When shopping, you can take your app with you and check each item off your Shopping List as you put it into the cart…and you can tailor your list anyway you want it to include items not in the recipes (any extras or other items you need).
A few other neat features included in the Matt’s Pantry app are: Favorites (add recipes to your Favorites list when you try something you love), Search (helps you use up ingredients by searching recipes that use them), Wine and Beer Pairings (pair drinks with recipes), Pantry Basics (list of things you should have on hand), Photos of Everything (including ingredients if you are not sure what to look for), etc. Also, a big plus for me, they show you how to “scale” recipes – all recipes are written for 2 servings but scale up to 6 servings. This is always nice to know – and sometimes it is hard to figure out on your own…
I really enjoyed the Matt’s Pantry app and think that it has a lot of great features. I think that this app could really help families who are looking to plan ahead when it comes to family meals for the week, or even for the month. If you love to cook, and love not to waste – be sure to check out Matt’s Pantry!
