The iPhone Mom

Monica Rich Kosann is a designer and photographer who has created collections of lockets and charm bracelets. The MRK e-Locket app brings one of her lockets to the iPhone. You customize the locket by choosing two of your photos to “place” inside it and also writing an inscription for the back. When  you’ve finished your locket is displayed on the screen. Tap on it to open up the locket and view your photos. Tap on the right side of the locket to close it and see the inscription.

You can share your locket with others through email. When you do this your friends/family receive a website link. Clicking on the link will take them to a web page that displays the locket. Here they’ll be able to tap on it and view the pictures and inscription just like you did on your iPhone.

I like the idea of the e-Locket. The app is easy to use and customize and I liked the look of my locket. But I can’t see myself using it on a long term basis. However, there is an update that would make me inclined to create more lockets. I think that it would be nice to be able to save the lockets to your camera roll. I understand that saving the locket as an image would prevent you from being able to open and close it but it would be nice to be able to use the locket as wallpaper for the phone or email it out directly.  I had never heard of Monica Rich Kosann’s jewelry before but what I saw on her website is fantastic. I do like the way she’s taken her jewelry and made it accessible to everyone.
