Nest Case

The Nest case is a unique product because it doubles as both an iPhone case and a display stand. The case is made of hard plastic and breaks into two pieces. To use it as a case you will remove the bottom piece, slide your iPhone into the top and then slide the bottom piece back into place. The Nest has the usual iPhone case holes, one for volume control, headphone jack, power button and docking port. But in addition to those the case also has two sets of cut outs along it’s sides. There is a set of deep, curved cuts towards the bottom of the case and then two additional smaller cuts right above this. These are the spots that enable you to turn the case into a display stand. If you remove your iPhone from the case and set it into the smaller cuts the Nest will hold your phone upright at a 70 degree angle. Place your phone into the deeper cuts, laying it down horizontally, and you’ve got a landscape view. Finally, if you leave the bottom piece of the Nest on your iPhone and set it upright into the deeper, curved cuts you’re able to view your phone at a 55 degree angle.
I really like the ingenuity behind the Nest Case. Having an accessory that will perform multiple functions is always a plus for me. When I had my phone in the slots I was never worried it was going to fall out of the stand, the Nest holds it in securely. The case does have an unfinished look because of the cut outs on the side and I think it looks a bit rough when it’s on my phone. Other than the look the only thing I really didn’t care for was that the plastic felt a wee bit flimsy. I’d have preferred if it had a more substantial weight to it.
The Nest will work on an iPhone 3G, 3GS or iPod Touch.
The Nest retails for $24.99 and details can be found at www.nestcases.com or Amazon.com.
Disclosure: I received a Nest case to try out for review purposes.
