Off to bed! is an ideal bedtime book for toddlers and preschoolers. This delightful interactive story follows a young child as they go to bed and drift off to a world of enchanting dreams. Soothing lullaby music plays throughout as your little one tucks the young child into bed and sends them off on their nighttime adventures. Your child has the opportunity to be actively involved in the young child’s journey on every page of the story. The characters and objects in the book come alive through the use of animation and sound when your little one touches them. My little girl loves counting the sheep and playing with the musical stars on the path to dreamland as the young child goes to sleep. Off to bed! makes going to bed a welcome adventure for your child.
Off to bed! is beautifully illustrated by Màriam Ben-Arab. I loved the rainbow of bright colors used throughout the story; I wish that my own dreams looked as magical. I also enjoyed the soft lullaby background music and felt that it helped to create a calm feeling as my toddler and I listened to the story. If you prefer to not have the background music playing, you can turn it off in the Options area. In the Options area you are also given the ability to turn the narration and automatic page turn features off and on. With the narration feature turned on, your little one can listen as the story is read to them. If your little one needs help with a specific word, they can touch it and hear it read back to them. If the automatic turn feature is turned on, your child will only have fifteen seconds to interact with the objects on a page before it turns to the next page. As your child grows and learns to read on their own, you are able to turn the narration off. The visual and functional elements of Off to bed! contribute to the overall pleasure that you and your little one will experience as you read and explore this charming app.
