Point Inside

It’s almost that time of year again. The time where we all struggle to remember the Spirit of Christmas as we head out for shopping and long lines. I’m not a big shopper and I’m definitely not a big fan of the mall, at anytime of the year. The ironic thing is that my kids love going to the mall. Mostly for the escalators and Build-a-Bear store but they’re more into shopping then I. So as much as I try to avoid the mall it’s unavoidable. Because I’m not there frequently enough I haven’t memorized where everything is. There have been times where I’m on the other end and someone needs to go to the bathroom and I’ve got no idea where to take them. So I was excited to try out the Point Inside app. It features maps from over 10,000 stores and services in North America. I tried it out and the first time it worked beautifully. It pulled up my local mall and I was able to see the mall’s map on my screen. It was just like having a mall directory on my phone. I could zoom in and pan across the screen. I could also see the directory list and search it for specific stores and services. Restrooms here we come!
But…and I hate that there is a but, but….the next time I tried to open up the app it opened but then got stuck. So I tried again and it loaded and loaded and loaded and loaded. The next fewtimes I couldn’t even get it to load. I shut down and restarted my iPhone and was able to open the app and use it. It worked but it was slow. I contacted the developer and they are working on fixing these issues with the next release. I’m glad to hear it because I think Point Inside has the potential to be a fantastic app for moms, but it’s got to be consistently usable.
