Do you know a high school student who will be taking the big SAT test this year? If you do, and they have access to an iPad, then point them in the direction of this app, SAT Vocabulary Prep. The app covers over 1,000 different vocabulary words that can be found on SAT exams. The app is broken down into four different parts, here’s a description of each.
Learn the Vocabulary - Here you will study the vocabulary words and their definitions. The font is nice and large and used on top of a colorful screen. The color changes with each word which helps to keep the flashcards interesting.
Word Quiz - Choose between 10, 25 or 40 different questions. You will be presented with a word and four possible definitions. Tap on the definition that matches the word. The app will instantly tell you if you are correct. If you are not then the correct answer will appear on the screen.
Definition Quiz - Again, choose between 10, 25 and 40 questions. This time you will be given a definition and you must select the word that matches.
Big Final Practice Test - As the name implies this is one last test of your vocabulary knowledge. The questions are a mix of the two types that appear in the quizzes. A final score is given at the end of the test.
I like the way the vocabulary is large and in charge on the SAT Vocabulary Prep screen. It most definitely is the focus of the app and because of that I think this would be an excellent study aid.
I have five iPad promo codes to give away to readers who could use this app for SAT Prep. Leave me a comment if that’s you or your child. Codes only valid in the US App Store.

I grabbed a bunch of the Kaplan books from the iBook store when they were available free last month. This would be good interactive reinforcement.
