Are you looking to add a little bit of character to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad? We’ve been trying out some of the Sesame Street cases made by dreamGear and offered by iSound.net and they’ve been a very cheerful addition to our family of tech toys. I’ve been trying out the Elmo Case for iPad and my husband is currently sporting the Cookie Monster Case on his iPhone 4. The cases are blue and red and the back features either Elmo or Cookie Monster’s eyes and smile. They’re simply adorable and we got several compliments when we took them with us on Spring Break last week. Compliments are nice but I enjoy the smile I get when I see Elmo peeking up from the back of the iPad.
Now for the details. These cases are made out of strong silicone and they fit very snugly around the devices. I had to work to get the last corner of the iPad into the Elmo case. The cases have openings for the camera, dock connector and other buttons. The silicone comes up around the top of the iPhone and iPad and will protect them from scratches and minor falls. If you have very young children who will be handling your devices then these cases aren’t going to offer you the absolute best protection that you can get. But if your children are old enough to know how to handle them with care you’ll be just fine.
In addition to the silicone cases dreamGear also offers Plush Portfolios for the iPad. This design puts the iPad into a portfolio so the front and back are both covered. The front of the case will fold back and hook into the back at different angles, turning it into a viewing stand. The exterior of the case is made of plush material, blue for Cookie Monster and red for Elmo. You still have the adorable character faces on the back of the case and with the furry cover you’ve got a monster on your iPad. Because of the portfolio design this case will offer more protection for younger users.
