ShopAdvisor

ShopAdvisor is one slick app and it has the potential to save me a substantial amount of time and money this upcoming holiday shopping season. Here’s how it works. First you’ll enter in a product that you’d like to search for. You can do this by typing in the product name or scanning a barcode. ShopAdvisor is going to pull in results from online and local sources. Depending on what you’re searching for you might find yourself with an overwhelming list. If that’s the case then you can refine it and trim it down a bit. Once you’ve found the product then you can add it to a “Watch List”. The Watch List is where you hold onto the products that you’d either like to do more research about or wait and see if you can find a better deal. ShopAdvisor will let you know what the price history is for the different products. I thought this was great because you can see if it’s something that dips in price or always stays the same.
Now here’s my favorite part about this app. Once an item is in your Watch List you can set a price alert on it. This means that you can set things up so ShopAdvisor sends you a push notification when the price drops below a set amount. This is fantastic if you’re holding out for a certain item to go on sale! You can also set time alerts to remind you about items later on. This would be great if you think of something for a birthday gift but the persons birthday isn’t until later on in the year. ShopAdvisor integrates with Evernote and will refresh notes with price and availability information. Also very cool!
ShopAdvisor is free and it is definitely staying on my phone. I do the majority of my holiday shopping online and I’m excited to have another resource for price comparisons this year. Now I can really up my game because the app is going to stalk the sales and do my online research for me. That means more time for baking holiday goodies!
