Sing and Send StoryChimes is a clever app that kept my children thoroughly entertained while I was testing it out for the review. Most of that time they were laughing at me because the app requires singing and I’m NOT a singer. I’m more of an off-key talker to music. Needless to say they thought it was great fun seeing mom “singing” into her iPhone. Sing and Send is a free app that lets you record yourself singing popular children’s songs. You can then send your recordings to friends. There’s also a “DJ” feature that I’ll talk more about later.
The first thing you’ll do is select the song you’d like to record. Sing and Send is free and comes with two included songs. If you’d like to purchase additional song packs they’re available for $.99 each. Each song includes a pre-recorded version and you can decide if you’d like to accompany this singer or perform a solo. Once you’ve made your decision it’s singing time! The lyrics appear on the screen, highlighting when it’s time to sing them. They’re easy to follow and before you know it your recording session is over. A recorded song can be played back or sent out by email or Facebook. You can even share it with YouTube, rock on! The final thing you’ll do is play around as a DJ. On this screen a turn table appears and you can use your fingers to scratch the record, speed up or slow down the recording. I sound much better after being altered by the DJ and my kids were only too happy to help. This was their favorite part of the entire app!
We all enjoyed playing with Sing & Send StoryChimes and we especially liked giving the DJ treatment to the songs. There’s a fun concept to this app and it’s been well executed. I’ll have “Baa Baa Black Sheep” in my head for days because there are now four new recording stars in the iPhone Mom household. As for me I’ve opted to give up entertaining and stick to managing the talent, I think it’s best for everyone’s ears!
